Hello, I have had this pc for about three years and it seems that I have done more damage to it everytime I try to fix something. I am missing drives. Things are not running properly I had to give this one last shot before I take off the gloves. I should mention that I just replaced my hard disk drive because the pc kept shutting down on me and telling me number of hard drive has changed. I've used my restore cd's so many times they are worn. My pc seemd to be running better now except I bought a larger hard disk drive and it does not seem to be moving any faster. As you can tell I have no idea what I am doing but, I really need to learn. Iam so tired of fighting to get my pc back to normal <_< . If there is anything you can do to help me I would greatly appreciate it.

welcome teyjay26

have you tried a repair installation of windows xp?, if you havent you should boot up your computer with the windows xp disk in and select the repair installation and follow the menu,

also have you scaned with any spyware programs or any virus/trojan programs(both can be found in my signature)? if not please do and that will help your computer right off the bat <_<

after that please reboot your computer and post a fresh new HiJackThis log

Thank you so much for your response. I need to buy a repair cd when I purchased the pc it came with the complete reinstall cds (3). But, no repair cd can I just go to any electronic store for that?

you might not need the cd, hopefully the log will fix it, but you dont need to purchase anything its your xp disk!, it has that option of repair when you pop it in <_<

Sorry, we do sometimes miss a post. We're also all volunteers here donating our time, and summer's do get busy. <_<

You do have a couple suspicious entries in your log, but not the typical spyware stuff.

Please run a free online virus scan here:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
