:) I get the following type of message every time I open a program or file (See attached file for print screen of image.)

In the blue bar at the top it gives the program name with the .exe extension followed by Bad Image.

Next to the X in the red circle, it states:

"The application or DLL C:\PROGRA~1\Google\GOOGLE~1\GOEC62~1.DLL is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

Is there a fix for this other than having to reload the operating system and then download all of the updates? Please let me know, and have a great afternoon!

Go to Start then to Run
Type in msconfig and click Enter
Click on the Startup tab and see if there is a entry by that name. If so then uncheck it and reboot your system.
When system reboots you will receive a notice about System configuration utility[/b], just click the little box on the bottom left that states do not run or show and then click OK This should stop that.
Does the issue still happen?

Anything with Google needs to be unchecked to see if that is what is causing the issue.
From there we will recheck one line at a tiem till we find the culprit.

Sorry, but I just returned to the office. That didn't work, unfortunately. I've attached screenshots of what is in the list. Please let me know your thoughts, and thank you for your assistance, and have a great weekend!

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:
1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
7: Attach to your next reply.

I found the Autorun. How do you learn this stuff? This is amazingly complex!! I'll try the deletions now.

Ok I see something really strange and I think I may have found the issue. Let's see what happens now.

Open Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab, and UN-check:

+ "Acrobat Assistant 7.0"
+ "FBSearch"
+ "MimBoot"
+ "NvCplDaemon"
+ "Don't Click Here Either.lnk"

The next file needs to be manually disabled and is only needed if you use multi language on your keyboard. If you do then skip the step.

To turn off just ctfmon.exe go to:

Control Panel then to Regional and Language Options

Click on the Languages Tab then click the Details button

Click on the Advanced tab

Check the box that says Turn off advanced text services option

Click A and then OK

When done restart computer and then:

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
  • Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
  • Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
  • Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because:
It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging
It will actually show you what it is doing
At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up
You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged
