I am trying to fix a friend's laptop. It is a Acer Aspire One Series. After logging on only the wallpaper appears,no taskbar, no icons. I've tried starting up in safe mode but this does not help. I have seen a couple of site suggesting that it may be a malware issue. One of the main problems is that it has no cd drive so I cannot install anything with a cd and it will not recognize a USB drive. I have tried to start explorer.exe through taskmanager but as soon as I bring up the 'Create New Task' window I get a error message saying that Windows TaskManager has encountered a problem and needs to close. Any help will be VERY appreciated!! :)

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.
