Hello,

We are trying to update our stereo receiver, we have gone on line and downloaded the required program however it is unable to open any of the listed Com Ports to run the update. we've tried turning off the firewall as well as adding a port but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have a COM port (aka Serial Port) on your computer?
Most modern computers don't have Serial Ports, on the pure basis there's next to nothing to plug into them any longer.

What is your computer make and model and what is the make and model of this stereo receiver please?

hello,

the stereo receiver is a Rotel 1560 and the computer is a Gateway mt6707. There is a serial port on the back of the laptop but the reciever uses something that is similar to a phone jack
