Downloaded the radeon xpress 200 released 11/17/09. I will now wait and see what happens and keep you posted. With regard to Watchdog, the link you provided took me to Microsoft website. From there not quite sure what I am looking for specifically. I entered Watchdog and Vista 32 and found a large number of options. Do you have a link that will take me directly to the possible solution? Thanks again for everything. Biff74

OK now we are dealing with the OS and possibly a driver out of date. The first step at this point is to have you go to Windows Update and make sure all critical and optional updates that have anything to do with a driver update are done.
Try that and let em know what it finds for you.

Well the frequency of the BSOD's are getting farther in between and they are now limited to the same issue.
Have you finished all the updates from Microsoft yet?
If not then keep going.
Keep me informed and I will watch for your response.

All critical downloads have been addressed. However, there are several for Microsoft Office 2007 I did not load. Reason is the version of Office 2007 previously on my computer was not authentic. As a result, I removed it and installed Office 2003. Seems that is introducing it's own set of problems - probably related to Vista. As far as drivers are concerned I appear up to date. Question is where do we go next?

I am going to ask another tech to take a look at this now and see if they can figure out what is causing this.
I just don't understand the constant crashing. The system according to the report is going a lot longer between incidents. Is the system actually crashing or rebooting now?
The error is still happening in the same location which is the OS or the drivers.
Have you done all the Microsoft Windows Updates both critical and optional?

I am 100% up to date with all Microsoft critical and not so critical updates as of 10:32 AM today.

Regarding crashing or rebooting, I am not sure. Most of the time I see the blue screen. However, there have been times where the screen is simply black but the computer is still on. I move the mouse in hopes the computer is in sleep mode and will pop back on. Nothing happens so I need to reboot. Look forward to hearing back from you or your colleague.

rshaffer61 - After the recent blue screen shut down, I received the following note when the system came back up. what do you make of this?:

Contact Hewlett-Packard Company for instructions

rshaffer61 - Also received a note saying

"Catalyst Control Centre Host application has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" It then gives me the option to close the program. Wonder what program they are speaking of.

just ran a scan with DriverDetective. Seems the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series is out of date. Last updated 6/13/07. Not sure how that could be. I will update again and get back with you.

Good detective work and yes that may be causing part of the issue.
