I have one of these 'life proof' Lacie Rugged XL hard disks. It is new and has only sat on my desk. It has been fine up till when I restarted my xp computer the other day, whereupon it stopped being recognised at all by usb, not in device manager or even BIOS. It is completely accessible on other computers.

Hi laurieirvine

Have you tried it in other USB ports?
Have you tried other USB accessories in the ports?

Please Go to
1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's

In your next reply please include those results

Thanks for your reply 123Runner.

I have tried it in all my laptop's usbs. Other hard disks and devices work fine.

In device management the only red X is over my wireless card, which I have deliberately disabled.
