Ad Aware HELP!

I've been battling some very pesky pop up garbage that has infested my pc for 2 days. I apologize if I am missing something trivial, but I am about to go cross eyed.

I am following the instructions when I first registered about getting rid of pop ups and spyware. I've run Cleanup successfully (?). Now I've installed and am trying to run the Ad-Aware SE. I've downloaded all available updates and customized per the instructions given. When I run the scan, it stops after scanning approx 1100 objects. It doesn't close or provide any other prompts - just stops. I have disabled my Norton Antivirus to run this.

Can anyone help with this problem so I can get a scan of my PC? I have Windows XP SP3.
