Do I really need a name for my computer? Can I just leave that field blank?

Nope not really needed. It is used mainly if you are networking the system to another system or on a network. Simply give it your name to make it happy. :) :)

Can I leave it blank. I have this problem with what I named my computer showing up when ever I need to fill out a form on line. It shows up in the first name field. I do not want this seeing that I did not name my computer after me. I am hoping this is where the forms are getting the name. If not I'll keep on looking. I did not want to just leave it blank not knowing if there would be other problems because of it.

Leave it blank and if the system doesn't like it then it will let you know.

Forms on line via using your browser is probably because you have the Options/Preferences set to remember what you type into forms. Uncheck the box that has that set to remember what you enter into forms. In Firefox it is on the Privacy tab. You can have the browser to remember to clear Private data on closing if you wish.
