Well, recently, Windows 8.5 told me that I had to update to the newest version if I wanted to keep using Live Messenger. And I downloaded the latest version. Smooth installation, everything going well, MSN opens up without any problems. Then I sign in, and face an annoying error window.

"Windows Live Communications Platform has found a problem and will be closed.
[Send Feedback] [Don't Send]"
If I click in any of those buttons, it stops the sign in process/logs me off msn. I already tried many solutions I found on the net, from setting the compatibility mode to Win95 to Win2000, disabling Visual Themes from the properties box of wlcomm.exe, deleting/moving/renaming wldlog.dll, which, at the start worked for me, but then wouldn't let me add contacts, and now that doesn't even work (I reinstalled msn, meanwhile, and now it stays in the "Signing In" window).

I don't have anything from NVidia (as far as I know. At least I don't find any software of it, and my Graphics Card is an ATI), and neither have any skinning program.

When I click in the error window to show me the details of the Error Report, the following appears:


Checked what the kernell32.dll is and it's a system file. Any ideas, please? This is really bugging me :/

i once had a similar problem with windows live. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall, giving me more headaches. I was told by a friend to use a registry cleaner after uninstalling it, i ended up using ccleaner from filehippo. then I reinstalled and it worked fine for a while after.

The next thing that messed it up was installing a firewall. The firewall would block it without me knowing, and I ended up having to manually allow it to pass through.

So you could try using a registry cleaner (at your own risk, sorry to say. it CAN delete valuable registry keys. Make a system restore point before adventuring)

Uninstalled Live Messenger, cleaned registry using CCleaner; reinstalled. No luck :/ Also tried to change the firewall settings, but it's not the firewall conflicting with Live Messenger. It seems that I should just stay with the old classic msn and wait until a new Live Messenger comes out...

That's all. Though, I'm pretty sure that what's making the thing go weird on me must be something of the system that's not compatible, maybe one update of Windows, since the conflicting file is kernel32.dll and it's a system file.

Installed the sign in assistant. Nothing changed :/ like I said, guess that I'll just have to keep using the classic msn and wait till there's a new version of Live Messenger.

Also, thanks for that link for the software informer. I'll start updating some programs, tomorrow
