I have an older Dell 450 Inspiron that runs windows 2000.

I don't want to do a total clean install of XP Pro because of the difficulty in finding all my email account passwords, I have no idea where they are or what they are.

If I do an UPGRADE to XP Pro will my email account and all my favorites etc. be safe or will it wipe them out?

then the next question is...

If I want to buy an upgrade to XP Pro what exactly am I asking for when I go to get it?

Thanks,
Scott

Are you sure, that old computer is able to run XP?

With an upgrade, your data should be safe, but, there is always "but", so backup is always recommended.

No i'm not sure. But XP is the next upgrade from 2000 so why wouldn't it work?

Because you need to meet some requirements.

Please, post some computer info:
- processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
- hard drive size (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")
