Why wont my Hp Pavillion dv9000 recognize ram upgrade? I put 2 brand new matching 1 gb sticks in and it only recognizes 1gb.

Maybe one is dead? Or any other possible reason. Have you tried switching the sticks around?

according to crucial memory...that model only supports 1 Gig of ram...2 X 512MB sticks

Return them and get another set, I've seen this issue often in the shop where I work, I just replace them and eventually find a pair that works.
