i cannot connect to the internet on my pc with vista. i have tried everything. i had a tech support rep from my service provider come to my home. he couldn't find any issues on the providers end and thinks it is my computer. it is as if the modem doesn't read the ip address. when i type the ip address into the address bar, it takes me to a page that says "address not recognized". i have tried to run my antivirus software, but since i cannot connect to the internet i am not able to run the software. i am at a loss at this point. i have performed system restore, deleted all internet files and reset my internet settings. i am considering purchasing anti-virus software that comes with a disk and installing it that way, but not sure if that will even solve the problem. can you help?
