Hello all, read many posts about the ABOUT BLANK HIJACKER.
yep i had it too. i think i have removed the the about blank hijacker after using ad-aware, spybot, no-adaware, adaware away and hijack this. i have deleted all things in the registry to do with the about blank hijacker i could find. when i run all these programmes they do not find anything in the registry now and i hope its gone forever. however for some reason i have no wallpaper on my desktop and when i right click on the display propities on the desk top there is no options for BACKGROUND or APPEARENCE.. i hope i have removed the about hijacker but does this mean its still hiding somewhere??????
here is the hijack this report.................

hello coachwife6,
i hope this is all the hijack this log. as this is all that comes up when i press system scan and save log!!!

what happend is that i had the about blank web page keep poping up on my web browser with lots of popups. i used ad-aware, spybot, no-adaware, adaware away, hijack this and CWshredder. and this seem to elimnate it. i also deleted evrything i found in the regestry with the words ABOUT BLANK.
when i run all the adaware programmes there are no spyware/adware found.
for some reason when i run NO ADAWARE and then run AD-ADWARE 6 it finds a log ... HKEY_CURRENT_USER:SOFTWARE\NOADWARE\HMPG="ABOUT:BLANK"
is this important or is it conflicting with no adware????
also now i have no wallpaper and when i right click on the desktop i only have the options of SCREENSAVER, EFFECTS,SETTINGS.

I HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP AND THAT YOU CAN HELP.
Any help will be much appricited and again thank you for you time.

You did edit your registry? That's pretty difficult. Let's see if this will help.

1. Disable your active desktop.
http://www.computerh...es/ch000593.htm

2. Click Start > Run > Type or copy&paste regedit /e c:\deskpol.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop" > OK

This will create the file c:\deskpol.txt
Post the content of it please.

No, please don't post that. Try this instead.

Please make a System Restore Point before using this. (instructions below in quote box)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

How to Turn On and Turn Off System Restore in Windows XP
http://support.micro...kb;en-us;310405

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as permit.reg

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoViewContextMenu"=-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDispBackgroundPage"=-

Then see if you can use the Display Properties > Browse button again.
