It appears many people have this switch inside their heads makes them go stupid when in unfamiliar territory. Not all of them necessarily are stupid, but the really stupid ones are those that stick in your memory.....

I sometimes just want to scream....
A few things I've come across - some people manage to beat the statistical odds and do the wrong thing each and every time in a given scenario, although, statistically, since they don't know what in the @$#^%$!! they are doing, they should get it accidentally right at least every now and then.
And, my favorite: people who never backup. NEVER. They have all the photos of their family spanning seven generations on their 6 year old HD, and, since the computer is supposed to live forever they never bother with backups (am I repeating myself?). I tell them: "backup!" and they give me those blank, cattle-eyed stares. Then is starts dying. They still keep using the computer until it won't turn on at all (they will try it another 10,000 times just to make sure), then come to me saying they absolutely need the data from their (often) dead disk.
But I don't loose my patience.....
