Hi Everyone, I'm new here, and need some help.
I have Windows XP Home Edition, I decided to try the OS Ubuntu 9.10 out of curiosty since I heard some talk about it. I wanted to make a dual boot system. When I got the CD it said that I had a choice of trying the OS system,(would be like an application on Windows) or do a complete install. When I put in the CD it wouldn't boot so I used the help feature, which installed the Kernal and something else ss can't remember, anyways I tried it and decided that I didn't want to do it anymore for now so I went and used the Add/Remove (in Windows) and prompt popped up that it was removed, now when I boot up I keep getting choices of Windows XP or Ubuntu its getting annoying. The computer I have is a Acer came with 4 CDS not sure which one has the repair XP on it. Is there a command I can run in the command prompt to remove Ubuntu OS from showing up when I boot up? Unbunti is not showing at all in my disk partitions.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi M2AFLA,

Press the Windows key + pause/break to bring up System Properties. Click on the Advanced Tab. Go to Start up and Recovery. Click Edit. In the note pad remove the "C:\wubildr.mbr="Ubuntu" " entry and save (ctrl+s) close the notepad. That should fix the multi-boot option at start.

Hi Shivani,

Windows 7 and vista use a different boot loader than previous versions of Windows. To modified Vista/7 boot options you have to use the BCDedit.exe as Administrator. I haven't done any work with it but I am told it is a bit confusing to use. Easybcd is supposed to make the job easier and I've seen it recommended for the boot configuration task in Vista/7.

I recommend mirekusoft's Registry Cleaner. It can help solve problems that are caused when a program does not uninstall properly.
