Hi

Can anyone help please, I have run ad-aware, spybot and cw shredder and spysubtract (had to burn them to cd as it wouldnt let me download anything). There have been viruses found and i have asked it to clean them, without success. I have tried running hi-jack this but it refuses to open it. When I access the internet, the page freezes, it doesn't allow me to type in a web address and it keeps bringing up popups plus a ms-dos box that says cmd.exe that opens something to do with windows.

I tried to delete the files it found on spybot by going into safe mode, which I thought it had, but the same things happen when I log onto normal mode. I managed to take a hi-jack this log in safe mode, but dont know if this helps.

Can someone advise?

Hi, sorry it's taken me so long to reply, wouldn't let me connect to the internet. I can't run another hi-jack this as it won't let me run anything on here, it's hopeless! I could try and run in safe mode again if that's ok?

It's just taken me an hour to log onto the internet :tazz:( I can't ctrl alt del, add/remove programmes, download anything at all and everything just seems to be freezing. I can't download video clips as it keeps saying it can't find the folder but I haven't deleted anything ;)( I managed to take a hi-jack this log in safe mode, hope you can help. Thanks

Hi Coach

I can't close it in safe mode, it's not there. When I ctrl, alt del in normal mode, the screen comes up and then disappears again and I can see it sitting, but just can't close it as it disappears too fast. There must be something that's stopping it from coming up :tazz:

Don't worry about task manager for now. Try to do the other part of the fix.

Run hijack this and put check marks next to these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet2 Optimizer] wkfix.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Internet2 Optimizer] wkfix.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Internet2 Optimizer] wkfix.exe

Reboot into safe mode and find this file and delete it.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wkfix.exe

Download CleanUp! and run it.

Reboot and post a new log

Hi Coach, I managed to get into task manager and did all of the above apart from the cleanup. It won't let me download, when I try and download without saving, it completes but doesn't open and when I try to save, it just freezes. I don't know if it's my internet connection as it's just new, but it's still freezing all my screens sometimes and doesn't allow me to type in web pages or anything, don't know what's wrong! I done another hi-jack this log and the wkfix.exe is still there, it won't go. I tried doing adaware scan and its still finding the same files dyfuca, sahagent and ibis

Please reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

(Do not do this next part until you are all clean)

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

How to Turn On and Turn Off System Restore in Windows XP
http://support.micro...kb;en-us;310405

Scan the computer here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/
Let it do a full run, than copy the log. Past it to a blank Notepad file and save it to post here.
Than let it rerun. Save that log too.

Post back here with a fresh log using HijackThis and both the scan results.

Hi Coach, ok I did all of the above, but I still can't download anything. When I go into the website for ewido i get as far as the download then it freezes, plus my ctrl alt del itsn't coming up again either. The good news is that adaware isn't finding any viruses. Could it be my internet connection, although I didn't think this would affect task manager, although I could be wrong. I haven't turned restore back on as you said not to do this until I was clean and I don't know if I am. I was getting a message when i tried to go into ewido generic host process for win32 services and it kept freezing. I don't know what else to do apart from reformatting the full thing, which I really don't need.
