Right now I am on Sabayon Linux. A stock market website that my dad uses requires MS java virtual machine so he is not able to get it working form home..
The site specifically says that the real time stock market applet they have will not work on Sun java machine.
Is there a work around for that? I don't want to get back to XP for this

I would guess there is no work around. I'm pretty sure they would tell you if it would work with what you have on your PC.

This is just me guessing but it seems to make sense that they would tell you if there was.

according to this site, MS Java is now obsolete. If the website is in the Stock Market, it shouldn't take them much time to convert to Sun Java. Inform yourself when the site will actually make the transition.

microsoft lost a lawsuit with Sun and had to remove MJVM from Windows starting with XP Sp1. If the program requires MVM then it is extremely outdated. Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is still available but hasn't been maintained since 2002.

I personally woukd not terust a site with financial business being that far out of date. It might be time to find a new site to deal with. There are quite a few stock and commodities programs available for Linux. A quick Google turned up this site.
