Hello, and welcome to GeekstoGo!
At what point did this start happening? Did something happen beforehand, like a power outage, an error message, Blue Screen Of Death, smoke from within, etc? Did you have an active anti-virus? Were you a regular user of your computer? Do other people have access to your computer, or are you the only one? Or was it that one morning, as usual, you went to boot up your computer, and nothing!?

I am the only one that uses the computer, and I have the highest level of Mcafee on it. Not really anything led up to this, I did have an AC adapter that had to be replaced because the protective coating on the outside of the cord was broken and I wasn't getting a good charge on the battery when it was plugged in, but since i got the new cord, it seemed ok....until now. I have seen several post that suggest the media direct button might be "stuck" down, either physically or program wise.

Hold down the Power button to turn it off, then turn it on with the Dell Media Direct button. It's supposed to be used to turn on Dell Media Direct without booting into your OS, but it may be inverted. Post back a reply if this resolves the situation.
