Make sure iTunes.exe is allowed internet Download/Upload access through your system firewall.

The default paths of these files are:
  • iTunes.exe - C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe

If you're using the default Windows Firewall on Windows Vista/7, please follow the following steps (in chronological order) to allow this program through the firewall.
  • Go to the Start Menu (Windows orb icon at the bottom left hand corner of the screen*), then select Control Panel which can be seen on the right-side menu^.
  • Make sure your view is Category View (View by (top-right): Category), then click on the System and Security link (found next to the shield).
  • Under the Windows Firewall category, click on the Allow a program through Windows Firewall link.
  • The Control Panel dialog should change. Click on the button Change settings (with the shield next to it) to allow/change/decline a program through the Windows Firewall. After clicking this button, you should be prompted by the UAC to allow a program for Administrator privileges, you must Allow this.
  • Once you can access the form, browse through the list of Applications until you find iTunes, if it isn't there, skip to Step 8.
  • Make sure that the checkbox (titled Home/Work (Private) located on the far right of iTunes is checked. If it isn't, check it. NOTE: It isn't wise to allow iTunes if you're on a public connection, since your iTunes account can be compromised.
  • Click the OK button to close this Dialog to return to the Control Panel category, "System and Security". You have now finished, and you do not need to continue on with the rest of this guide. You can now close the Control Panel :)
  • Click on the "Allow another program..." button.
  • Browse for iTunes in the listbox. If it isn't there, click on the Browse button, and find the path where iTunes.exe+ is located (default path is above). Once there, single-click on iTunes.exe+ then press the Open button. The file should automatically be added and highlighted in the listbox above.
  • Press the Add button. The dialog should now close. Continue from Step 5.

After that, close (if open) and open iTunes again. If that still doesn't fix it, please go to [in iTunes]:
Help > Run Diagnostics. Make sure Network Diagnostics is the only selected option then hit the OK button. Copy the text from that window to your next reply. This will help give me an idea of the issue at hand :)

On a side note, do/have you use/used any Norton software on your computer?

Thanks :)
