paper jam error message Epson RX620

After a paper jam in my Epson RX620 the paper jam error message will not go off. Clear the jam and there are no obvious bits of paper still hanging on. Followed all instructions about clearing a jam but the message remain in place. Turned the printer off and on many times but no dice. So long as the lcd displays this message the printer will not print. How do I fix this?
