For almost a year now i've been getting COMPLETE super-spam of random emails from some goddamn [email protected]/.co.in/.alize/.inet.it

(Mainly .cn which i suspect is a chinese email)

along with repeated "Undelivered mail to sender" both from MSN themselves and other emails including myself. Ofcourse i tried blocking them but they keep making new ones

Now this morning i recieved yet another email from blizzard saying:

"There was an attempt made to get your account password. Please note that many login
names are similiar and someone may have made an error in their request, or were guessing
at their login name.

This request came from 221.196.37.31"

Suspiciously i happen to have an swedish related account name which most people can't even type so i decided to go check it and see what i find.

I have had this problem ON my email for as long as i can remember and on over 4 different computers. Ofcourse i've througly checked for ANY kind of virus and found absolutely nothing. Normally this wouldn't bother me too much but i've had my entire MSN list wiped out magically for over 6 times now and its starting to piss me off. What the [bleep] should i do? I can't block "it", i checked for viruses and found nothing, i got both router firewall, computer firewall and im going DIRECTLY through my ISP at the moment for maximum security yet im still getting crap like this.

Is anyone else having this or did MSN/Hotmail screw over their security?

I received that same email with the same IP address today. That is a bit strange and I am also worried about how many people have tried to get into my account and how many phishing emails i get about it.

As i said, .cn is just SOME i have and it wont help to cut any subscriptions due to the fact that they already have access to my email.

IF you think your email account has ACTUALLY been compromised (i.e. someone is logging into your hotmail account and sending things that way) then you need to change your password and contact hotmail support about the issue.

it's also possible that someone is spoofing your account (hotmail has SOME spoof protection but not much, and most of what is there relies on the recipient's mail system)...spoofing is when someone sends mail as if it's coming from you (sometimes even from the mail server you would normally send from). so for all intents and purposes it LOOKS like the mail comes from you, and if the mail fails to send YOU get the rejection mail because that's what the return address is.

I've actually been seeing an increase in this activity with hotmail. i'm trying to get to the bottom of it but it's difficult when you don't own the mail server..

Weird thing is that i already tried to change my password several times on three completely different network/computers now and still having the same issues at the time im already logged into my MSN
