Hi There,
I am new to this forum and I need help please. I have a number of things going wrong in my computer at present and I am sure that they are all related to a virus or number of viruses.
Problem 1.
My computer will not start up in Safe mode it gets halfway through the installation then resets back to a normal boot up.
Problem 2. I am unable to restore any restore points since my problems began.
Problem 3. IE 7 keeps opening with pop up's of different topics. I have turned the popup blocker on but it doesn't stop the pop ups from coming. I don't use IE7 as I am committed to Firefox browsers.
Problem 4. Every time I go to run a virus scanner the program is terminated before it can start any scans. I have free AVG 8 and also Malware bytes anti-malware installed and neither of them are allowed to run.
I am unable to neither uninstall nor reinstall the virus progs. Something prevents the installation prog from running.
Please help as I am desperate.
Cheers
Dave

Hi dcd1234,

Welcome to Geeks To Go!

My name is mpascal, and I will be helping you fix your problem.

Please keep in mind that I am still in training, so there may be a delay between replies. This is so that my posts can be checked by a resident expert, ensuring an accurate response that will get your computer back to normal as soon as possible.

Before we begin, I would like to make a few things clear so that we can fix your problem as efficiently as possible:
  • Be sure to follow all my instructions carefully! If there is anything you don''t understand, don''t hesitate to ask.
  • Please do not do anything or perform other steps unless I have asked you to do so.
  • Please make sure you post all logs I ask you to, and make sure that the entire log gets posted.
  • If you are unsure of how to reply, or need help with anything regarding the website, please look here
I also recommend that you print these instructions as you may be required to boot in safe mode

Please follow the instructions found in the Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, and post back with the following logs:
  • MBAM Log
  • RootRepeal Log
  • OTL Log

If you find you can''t do one of the steps listed, simply make note of it and move on to the next one.
