My IBM Thinkpad T40 Laptop Screen Freezes Then Gos Black

Some times i can use it, start it up like nothings wrong, but if you move it at all the screen will freeze then go black and if i move it a round SOMETIMES it comes back on. But if it doesn't I have to hardboot it and when i true it back on the screen is black and i can't do anything. The type and stuff is:

IBM ThinkPad Laptop T40 Type 2373
like 512 RAM
not to sure what the hard drive is
Windows XP Service pack 3 and Linus Mint 8
Made (I think) in 2003

Any other info I'm more then happy to give if its going to help. Now I'm not some guy that knows what he's doing as far as taking it apart. Any help would be awesome.
