I am having the same problem as others here I understand the fixes but the one problem that I am having is my Dell won't boot from from cd/dvd drive or usb setting.

This is really driving me bananas. I have an original copy of WinXp.

The system boots no problem right to the logon. When I press enter it will go thru its usual. It then logs me off. I have read other posts that have the same problem but the difference is that I cannot boot from any drives. I pulled out the hard drive and used it as an external saved all my files and then tried to repair it thru winxp cd. It got me to repair ask whether 1. for windows or
2. h:\

Of course I chose H:\ but then it asked me for my admin password???????

So in short it loops thru logon and logoff but cannot boot

thanks

What happens then?

If I choose cd/dvd in the BIOS settings it say no bootable disk. If I change the bios settings to hdd it boots in and then loops even thru safe mode.

Make sure, CD drive is listed 1st in BIOS...
Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomput...om/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.c...hp?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...see, if it will.
