wireless problem

I have a rather old advent 7030 laptop.
SOmetime ago I installed a internet connection software - name forgotten but I believe it was intel pro wireless lan 2100.
For some reason this has stopped working - indeed it seems to have dissapeared from my computer all together.

I try to connect to the internet using windows to configure my wireless connectin but this does not work. I have ticked the "use windows" box in the advanced setting but nothing changes.

I can connect using a cable.

SO haw can I get my computer to work wirelessly again?
