I have a Dell Dimension 4600 running XP. During a malware clean prep I ran TFC and my sound stopped working. So did my web cam. Reloading the cam software fixed that but reloading the sound drivers did nothing.

When I look in the control panel under Sound and Audio Devices it says "No Audio Device"

I see you are done here, so, lets see what we can find.

Please Go to
1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's

In your next reply please include those results

I am weak. I got antsy with no reply and tried to update the plug and play enumerator. Thought removing it would make that easier. Now it is gone!

Read several posts about swenum.inf and swenum.sys possibly being corrupt but have done nothing else.
