I was trying to do system restore and got error that disk OS © has errors, and that "Windows has detected file system corruption on OS ©. You must check disk for errors before it can be restored"
I also got error when I tried to install Adobe flash player and it said something about needing to do check disk. I can not do check disk. I tried running in both regular mode and safe mode for check disk (chkdsk /f) and it doesn't run on restart (it is supposed to be scheduled to run on system restart).

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunately, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.

Look in Device Manager under "Disk drives". It may tell you.

I'm not sure which one I should download. For Seagate, there are 5 different choices. Which one should I use?

Since you can boot to Windows, you can use this one:
SeaTools for Windows v1.2.0.0 (05.06.2009)

Right now I am running the seatools, basic test: long dst. I wasn't sure which test to run; there were several choices under basic tests. There is also an option to rescan. Is there a certain test I should be running?

The more tests you run, the better.

It passed the long DST. I also ran the smart test and short generic test and it passed both of those. What should I do next?

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter in Vista).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy (with Vista, most likely, you won't need it).
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD (rarely in Vista case).

I tried entering the sfc /scannow command in the run command, but nothing happens. It doesn't perform a scan. It seems like something flashes on the screen for a second, but then nothing happens.
