Norton GHOST problem

Have a new MAXTOR 3100 external drive. Connected to USB hub. Works perfectly for transferring data, used as backup. Norton GHOST will not make an image file on the drive with it connected to the USB hub; indicates must be connected directly to USB port on computer. Does work OK when I reconnect it; however I lose the ability to use the hub for other hardware connected unless I go back and reconnect the setup.

Is there something I can do to have GHOST work using the hub instead of using the direct USB port?
