Ok, something has happened to my computer and i'm not usre what. When I tried to go to msconfig to see why the printer software wouldn't update. (to see what was running in the background) I got the following eror message:

C:\Windows\system32\msconfig.exe
The parameter is incorrect.

What is the cause and how do I solve?

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

I tried to download all of the software that was said to download and all of them says the parameters are incorrect. Could my permissions be incorrect?

TFC says c is not accessible
Access denied

pretty much the same thing on the system restore, erunt, malwarebytes, gmer rootkit scanner, otl

I should be but not sure... been having problems with it saying that I must be the administrator. I should be the only user on this computer, but my son has moved into the house and he's using my laptop too so not sure what he's done to the laptop. How do I make sure that I am?

Enable the (Hidden) Administrator Account on Windows 7 or Vista: http://www.howtogeek...-windows-vista/ and see, if same thing happens there.
When you're done, disable it back, so it remains pristine.

So would you say I would be best to just reformat?

It may be your only option, unless someone else will come up with some other idea...
