Wireless Adapter

It's part of my many upgrade. So can anyone recommend a PCI wireless adapter that is good for gaming(no lag, no spike, no issue) and inexpensive?
I've had terrible issue with WMP54GS PCI adapter that I bought on ebay. It works for about a week then my connection became very slow.......lucky that I got a refund back from the seller.
Since I'm not an expert on wireless hardware. Please someone help me. It would be great if you have the experience with the product itself.

FYI, my router is WRT54GX4.
