Really dumb question re my W98 pc keyboard

On the keyboard of my Aptiva desktop with W98, there are three indicator lights above the numeric keypad.
  • The left one is marked “1” and indicates the condition of the NumLock. Pressing the NumLock key causes it to turn on and off.
  • The middle one is marked “A” and turns on and off when I hit the CapLock key.
  • The right one is marked with a vertical two-headed arrow. Whatever does it do? I can’t figure it out?
