So for Christmas I recieved the game Empire Total War, my video card is not rendering the the text boxes for the game. On the support website for the game they say this is common for the Chipset I have in my computer. The chipset being a Intel G965 Express Chipset Family. I have already tried to update my chip through HP and Intel but none have worked so far.
I was wondering what to do to be able to update my chip to work for this game. Also if I need a new video card which ones would be compatible with my computer?

My computer specs are here at http://h10025.www1.h...product=3245028

Hi,

Please can you download and install Everest from HERE
Once its installed (leave all of the options just keep pressing next) double click on the shortcut.
Then once its running:
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post

Don't include anything under the line "DEBUG- PCI"

The attached picture can be used for reference

Also did you receive the game through disk or did you use Steam for the download?

Ok lets do some updating and testing.

First, I am unsure of the specs for the game so please complete the following:

  • From the select product list select: Emipre total war
  • Click Can you run it
  • Once the report is done check to make sure you have passed the minimum spec list.

If you fail the minimum spec list look into which area you have failed and let me know.

then as a final test:
Step One: Click Start, and select the menu item Run
Step Two: In the Run dialog box, type: dxdiag
Step Three: Click Ok

Once there allow the green bar to continue untill then end to complete the test. Once that has happend click on Save all information.
Save this to your desktop and ATTACH it to your next reply. Please Do not copy and paste, it is far to long.

To attach it to your reply, click the Choose file button below the box into which you type your reply.
Find the file you just made on your desktop
Click Open
Click UPLOAD

Let me know if you run into any problems.

Ok with the lack of Video RAM I think even if you got the game working you would experience alot of lag. Also because your graphics card is integrated into the motherboard I don't think your PC would have the power to cope with the game.

Also along with the lack of vertext shading required for pretty much all new games I think now is the time to upgrade your graphics card.
You do have 1 PCI-e slot so you can accommodate most cards but I doubt you would want anything to meaty.

Unfortunately I don't really know anything about recommending hardware as I haven't really looked at the lower end hardware, or the high end for that matter.
There may be someone else on the board who can help you a bit or possibly a bit of patient googleing will find you the answer.

Either way good luck :)

A good starting point may be right here.

Post a new topic in System building and upgrading.
Start a new topic there explaining the problem and the game you want to run and the fact your system is not up to scratch and someone should come back to you with a good suggestion.
