how can i retrieve my vista program?

Yes I just bought a laptop from a rental place with vista already installed. They did not give me any disks with the laptop and i'm wanting to make a copy of the operating system. I have the code underneath the laptop i just want to be able to create a bootable distks of the operating system incase of crash. I have a Acer. thank you anyadvice would be great.
