Hello,
I'm not a computer expert, but recently took my laptop to be checked by people who claimed they were and messed it up even more. Originally I took it in, because a virus deleted all of my files. They tried to use a system recovery program called 'Easy Recovery Profesional', but for me it was no help. I could not recover the files I needed. Anyway, they left my laptop with other issues and I refuse to take it back to them to mess up again.
I think I know the problem (from looking it up on the internet) but I can't seem to be able to fix it. I think it is a rootkit problem (along with some deleted registry file problems). When I start IE, there is a pop up box that says windows installer, sometimes it will cycle through and I can get on the internet, other times I have to click on the cancel button many times before it lets me log on. Just as an FYI I have the SP1 for Vista.
I have looked up some tech advice and have followed directions on how to run root repeal and combofix; however, now that I have run them, what do I do with the info and how do I fix the rootkit? I have run Superantispyware and no infections come up, I have run Malware and got a log (again useless when I don;t know what to do with it).
Can anyone help me please?! I am just about ready to give up.
Thanks

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
