HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

That is what I get when I try to install the game. Please help.

Hi :)

The issue you have is to do with access priviledges you have on your system.

Are you running the install from a disk?
If so:
  • Right click your disk drive and click Open (Explorer for XP users (so you are looking at the contents of the disk)
  • Right click the file Setup.exe and select Run as Administrator
That should then work.

Also is this the same system you are having cleaned in the malware forum? If so I would be reluctant to try anything else until you are sorted just in case. Sorry for that but it will be better for you in the long run :).

Your in good hands :)

Ok then well lets continue,

This is an error also cause by left over files from an old uninstall. Please make sure you read the instructions below very carefully. It is a fix from Microsoft.

To resolve this issue, remove the registry key, and then rerun Setup. To do this, follow these steps.

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress
4. Select the key, and then press DELETE.
5. Click Yes to confirm the delete operation.
6. On the Registry menu, click Exit to quit the Registry Editor.
7. Restart your machine
8. Run COD setup again
