I have recently installed Windows 7 Build 7600 on a custom build pc : AMD Dual Core 2.7, Nvidia 9600 GSO 512, 4 GB 800. Before that I was using Vista SP2 and the performance for gaming has gradually decreased. I can't even run games like prototype, velvet assassin or rise of nations 2. Prototype was running perfect on Vista. I remember playing it with everything set to high while installing another game and no problem. I have the latest DirectX Version, All my drivers are up to date. Anyone experiences this or knows anything?

Thanks for the welcome and for the reply.Yes it has been slow since I installed it. I have tried scanning for malware today and fount only 3 threads. I also tried updating all the drivers manually. I ran some benchmarking and got a 770 score compared to the old 715. Now I must try some games. I tried crysis and I cand only run it 1280x1024 AA x2 and everything on medium. if I set it to high it considerably reduces fps. From what I can remember I could run it much better than that on vista ( 1280x1024 . 4x and everything on high). Are there any compatibility issues or I don't know. 2010 is here and there are lots of games to be releases soon. I wouldn't want to get back to vista.

what video card do you have...games are more video card dependent...
also ...Please go to Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide...
HERE....

That will help you clean up 80 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty (and you may not be) follow the instructions and start a new topic
here
post the OTListIt2 and Rooter logs ...
The "Topic Title" should contain the name of the infection that you are having a problem with...Use the "Topic Description" to include more details. This will help you get faster responses as some people are more familiar with certain infections....

if you are unable to download or run ANY of the tools...try downloading them on another computer and put them on a flash drive or cd and try installing them that way..
no joy...
start a new topic and let them know you can't run any of the tools..

that way we will know for sure its not malware causing the slowdown

I performed a deep scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and removed 3 threads. I really don't think that if some malware escaped the removal process it could slow my computer like that. I still think it's something about drivers or compatibility. This was from the first day I installed windows. Can't be malware.

Some malware was detected so you need to follow happyrock's instructions

We need to eliminate that factor first
