After running a scan on my computer, the event log recorded numerous scan omissions.

What is a scan omission? (Does it just mean that Norton AntiVirus couldn't not open the specified files?) There was also a message (when I opened the properties of one of these such "scan omissions" that said the problem was due to "extraction errors encountered by Decomposer Engine". What does that mean?

How can I prevent this from happening the next time I run a scan?

How big of a deal is this??

not to big a deal. normally its system files that are in use and can't be scanned except in safe mode. just make sure you run liveupdate.
