Adsl problems

Evening.

I have had an Eicon adsl for the past few years and it worked fine.I got a new PC last year which is a Windows XP as oposed to my old 98.The problem is I have an Eicon diva ADSL USB which is awful.It was complelty fine on my old pc but on this one,ever since I installed it,it has been acting up.It disconnects me every few minutes and if anyone phones,Iget disconnected and the phoneline makes wierd noises.I don't have much computer experience so please explain it simply.I've tried the troubleshooting tips on the website but they don't help.Can anyone please help with this as its been going on for a year.It says thiers been an unknown error every time it signs me off.
