Hi and thanks in advance. I have windows xp. I have a virus and i am not able to get onto internet explorer. Also in the start menu (when u click in the bottom left corner) i cant access the all programs button. It also renamed some files like my computer is now named folder. It also just slows my computer down. Also about every 5 min a popup comes up saying that my pc is preparing a download. I really need help. I was able to run a Ewido anti virus and AdAware, niether deleted the virus. I have pinpointed the name of the virus through Ewido. I have 2 trojans and 1 back door. The trojans are called Trojan.Feat and TrojanDownload.AGent.bq and a back door that was called somethin like backdoor.superstar.21 (i may be wrong on that one). Here is my hijac log:

You have a nasty About:Blank infection. This fix requires several tools that need to be downloaded. Please download these now, we will run them later.

1) About:Buster - Download it and extract it to C:/aboutbuster.
2) CleanUp! - Download it and install it.
3) CWShredder 2.11 - Download it and save it to your desktop.
4) Ad-Aware - Download, install, and update.

Enable hidden files and folders: http://www.bleepingc...torial=62#winme

During the fix do NOT connect to the internet. Unless you can memorize these instructions, it would be a good idea to print them out.

Boot into safe mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Run AboutBuster
-Click Start to begin the process
-Click OK on the Buster Report dialogue box to start the scan
AboutBuster scans the computer for malicious files and deletes them.
Save the report (copy and paste into Notepad and save as a .txt file) to post a copy for review.

Run CWShredder
-Next, click on the: ‘Fix’ button
-Follow the prompts, and press OK

Run CleanUp
-Make sure it is on Standard Mode
-Click the "CleanUp!" button

Run Ad-Aware
-Configure Ad-Aware for a full system scan
-Run it

Clean Up the left overs

Run HJT, close any open windows, and fix the following items (if they are still there):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\essnd.dll/sp.html#14044

How many antivirals do you have running? I see Norton and Avast. You only need one. Please get rid of the other one if you are running two. :tazz:

Yes, nothing will be able to get fixed if they are working against each other.

im tryin to get rid of avast but since i cant get into add/remove programs it cant get it off. When i try to just delete the file that contains all the avast stuff it tells me its in use but when i check the cnt+alt+del thing it says that none of the avast programs are running. so while i work on this try to find out what files the trojandownloader.agent.bq are in. I cannot thank you enough. you are a very nive person for doing all of this for free! ;) :tazz: ;)

Reboot into safe mode.

Open your task manager Ctrl>>Alt>>Delete

Stop these processes if there:

aswUpdSv.exe
ashServ.exe

Now try to delete the avast folder (while still in safe mode).

Run CleanUp!

Reboot. Now, try and do the fix I prescribed earlier and see how it goes. :tazz:

hi srry it took a while....... I did what you told me to earlier with avast gone and it still didnt work. :) i was running ewido and writtin down all the infected files. ok so they are all in the system32 file or the windows file. I want to just delete them all but if thats not the way to go then please notify me i will not do it untill u reply to this. also can u send me a list of the ones that i SHOULDN'T delete. The list that i took is very very long, estimating around 150 files so........ yea and i cant just copy and paste it cuz i hand wrote it becuase it wouldnt let me copy it off the notice. there is a little of the trojan feat left but not as much as before. I counted about 7 trojan feat files and a the rest were from the downloader one. also i found one file that was from a virus named somethin like Dialer.Genaric . I cannot thank you enough for this. :tazz:

;) ;) :) :) :) :yeah:  :woot:  :D :) :) :) :) :) :)

The trojans are called Trojan.Feat and TrojanDownload.AGent.bq and a back door that was called somethin like backdoor.superstar.21

The superstar trojan appears to be a false positive from ewido.

Can you try the fix I gave you earlier.

You have a nasty About:Blank infection. This fix requires several tools that need to be downloaded. Please download these now, we will run them later.

1) About:Buster - Download it and extract it to C:/aboutbuster.
2) CleanUp! - Download it and install it.
3) CWShredder 2.11 - Download it and save it to your desktop.
4) Ad-Aware - Download, install, and update.

Enable hidden files and folders: http://www.bleepingc...torial=62#winme

During the fix do NOT connect to the internet. Unless you can memorize these instructions, it would be a good idea to print them out.

Boot into safe mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Run AboutBuster
-Click Start to begin the process
-Click OK on the Buster Report dialogue box to start the scan
AboutBuster scans the computer for malicious files and deletes them.
Save the report (copy and paste into Notepad and save as a .txt file) to post a copy for review.

Run CWShredder
-Next, click on the: ‘Fix’ button
-Follow the prompts, and press OK

Run CleanUp
-Make sure it is on Standard Mode
-Click the "CleanUp!" button

Run Ad-Aware
-Configure Ad-Aware for a full system scan
-Run it

Clean Up the left overs

Run HJT, close any open windows, and fix the following items (if they are still there):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\essnd.dll/sp.html#14044
