SP3 on XP pro- AMD machine

I have resisted the SP3 update for XP pro on my 1.5yr. old Systemax/AMD due to the requirement for a reg key tweak. Now have the nads to play w/ reg ( two backups). Question is should I download Sp3 from a windows website as apposed to my taskbar icon and are there any more red flags?

The issue of bluescreens after installing Service Pack 3 only applies to systems that were primarily from HP (though not exclusively HP machines) prior to SP3 being released. SP3 was pushed out April 2008 so your 18 month machine should be fine.
