Good Day,

I am having issues adding a secondary HDD. I am trying to salvage some files off of an older drive, however my computer does not seem to recognize it.

I am running XP 64. The secondary drive is IDE, and is getting power, as it is noisy.

In the BIOS, under BOOT, I have the option of selecting the Maxtor secondary drive, so it seems to be plugged in properly, however under normal boot I cannot find the drive under My Computer. Disk Management does not show the drive either.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and Happy New Year!

Get around the problem by fitting the drive into an external IDE-to-USB hard-drive enclosure.
