Problems with Dell Optiplex GX620

A friend of mine is having problems with his Dell Optiplex GX620. About a week ago, he started getting these symptoms:

Can't reply to e-mails.

It freezes up periodically forcing to turn the power off and back on.

Once, Windows logged off and shut down the computer without doing anything.

Programs are running slow.

He has uninstalled his virus scan, installed spyware programs that came back clean, and turned off some other programs and still has these problems. Anyone seen anything like this and know how to fix it.
