Hey guys.

On my PC I have 4 USB ports at the front. In the last few weeks I have noticed one of them appears to work sometimes and then other times it won't register devices I stick in.

It also appears to need to install software every time it does ACTUALLY register the device I stick in.

Is it just a corrupted driver? If so, how do I go about reinstalling the driver?

Cheers.

Do the other USB ports on the front work other then this one?
If so it may just be a faulty port or a loose solder point.

Yes, the other 3 ports at the front and the 2 at the back all work fine.

If it is a faulty port, is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks. :)

Not without having someone who is well trained in soldering and can check the motherboard for a loose connection and know exactly what to solder back together. If done wrong it could short the motherboard completely out.

Ok. I'll just have to live with it then.

Thanks for your help. :)

A suggestion I can give is a USB hub. This would give you several more connections off one of the good working ports. Just a thought bubble for you. :)

I hadn't thought of that. :)

I'll give that a go.

Thanks again. :)
