Booting/DVD help needed

It is a Genuine Original Full Version Microsoft XP installation disk, and it does boot in another PC. Doesn't make sense to me that the drives work fine, except to boot...

Do you get anything that resembles it booting to the disk at all?
In other words when you put the cd in and start the system do you get the notice about Push any key to boot to cdrom drive?

No, I don't recall that it ever did, even before before this issue came up.

OK since they work in another system with no problem then we have to suspect it is either boot sequence or the drive itself.
Boot sequence should be cdrom then hd.
Dvd drive should not be there unless the cd\dvd is a single drive.
