If you do not have a windows xp disk, download the following file: rc.iso....go here..
make sure in the bios the cd drive is the first boot device....put the cd in the cd drive..boot your computer....
then type fixmbr press enter
no joy ....
type in fixboot press enter
nojoy...
Type bootcfg /scan and press Enter
if it says total identified window installs: 1
Type in bootcfg /rebuild and press Enter...
It will identify your XP installation...type Y once you see this prompt.
You will be prompted to enter the load identifier...type in Microsoft XP Home Edition or Microsoft XP Professional depending on whichever version you have...press enter
You will be prompted to enter the load options...type in /fastdetectand press Enter
Type in exit and press Enter
remove the cd
Reboot

Ok well I will have an XP cd so I can do a repar I think i am going to go ahead and get this file that you have recommended. Thank you very much happyrock

you don't need the recovery console cd (rc.iso) if you have the xp cd...
just run the commands from the repair section of your xpcd...

Ok if I am running the repair from the XP CD do I still need to put in those commands or will it do it on its own. Thanks again happyrock.

Ok so the repair didnt fix it So I just reformatted the devil!!!!! =) So Now I am looking for drivers for the computer because I dont actually have the original drivers cd for it. It is an HP Pavilion a839n if anyone can help with drivers I am always thankfull!!!!!!!

Ok rshaff thanks alot for the help I got all the drivers installed from the website provided and everything is working fine now thanks again.
