Something has happened to my dell inspiron 1501 laptop, because every time I turn it on, within 30 seconds of me logging on, I will hear one loud beep and then the computer will freeze. This happens all the time and the only way I can get into my laptop is if I go through the safe mode. I know that I probably have a virus or something, but can anybody tell me specifically what I have to do to fix my laptop because I do not want to have to re-format it.

P.S. I've also guessed that it was my norton antivirus that was corrupted, so I uninstalled it and then tried to download it (through a USB, as my school gives out free norton), but safe mode will not let me install it.
