Computer suddenly shuts off

I had unhooked my CPU cooler fan, and forgotten about it. That is what was shutting my computer down. I plugged the CPU fan back in, and that solved the problem of my computer suddenly shutting down. Every time I would turn my computer on, it would shut down sooner and sooner, than before. That's probably because the CPU was heating up, and it would immediately shut the computer down. Thankfully my computer figured that out, and shut itself off. I just thought I'd post this in case anyone else has the same experience.

Why had you unplugged the CPU cooler in the first place?
