Have you tried running chkdsk

Go to

Start
Run
Type
Cmd

This opens a command prompt then type

Chkdsk f: /r

There is a space after f:

It will ask you y or n press y

Leave the program to run its full course

If there is a way to save all your files on to another computer or drive then do that and then format.
