Hi
I was sent here by Rorschach112
Reference Malware Removal Forum thread "Internet 2010 Leftovers"

The current problem is no internet connection, no tray icon showing my wireless connection, no connections under Control Panel/Network

If I access mt wireless card (D-Link) I can "see" my wireless net and signal strength

I have booted from my Windows CD (sp2) and ran chkdsk/r

Also if I try to manage My Computer I get the following message
mmc.exe -Entry point Not found
The procedure entry point ?PickIconDlg@@YGHPAUHWND__@@PAGIPAH@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library mmcbase.DLL

I did find a google link suggesting to remove SP3 and reinstall the stand alone version but if doesn't have remove option in the control panel so I attempted to remove via the RUN prompt using the uninstall wizard but to no avail - files not found. I attempted to reinstall SP3 anyway, thinking if files were missing it would extract them. Install failed - Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update .inf Make sure Cryptographic service in running.

Thanks in advance

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter in Vista).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy (with Vista, most likely, you won't need it).

Try to replace both files, mmcbase.DLL and mmc.exe from your Windows CD.
Even Safe Mode may not work here. In that case follow this manual: http://www.techbytes...echbyte101.html
