Considering your HD is not even being detected in the bios it sounds like it has failed.

Considering your HD is not even being detected in the bios it sounds like it has failed.

That was going to be my suggestion back on the 1st page.
If its not detected in bios, then its not there.

The recovery CD will restore the laptop back to day 1.
If the drive is not seen by the recovery CD, then you will not re-load the OS and programs that came installed on it.

You could install another hard drive and then use the recovery. I do not know how difficult that is on your specific laptop.

If you want to go 1 step further you can try the manufacturers hard drive diagnostics.
Seeing as the laptop is a Fujitsu siemans, I suspect it might have a fujitsu drive.
Go to "hard drive diagnostics" in my signature and get the diagnostics.
You would boot from the cd. Again if the diagnostics can "see" the drive, then it will run its diagnostics.
I suspect that the drive won't be found.
